What type of animal can you keep on you?

Strange question, but what I really want to know if there are any pets that you could keep even if you travel around quite allot. Quite small so I can keep it "on" me and that can become quite loyal and trained so that it wont run off. I was thinking ferret, sugar glider etc, any ideas.
