Do you think there really was a flood in 3500 BCE?

This is re your first Q re a possible flood. I gave my world atlas away and have yet to get another one. But I'm sure I read that on Mt. Ararat (Turkey) some monks found a piece of old old wood that they claim was from the Ark. Also, I have no idea re the century, but scientists believe that an issmith (can't find the correct spelling) broke and allowed the Mediterranean to flow into a depression, creating a new body of water. Hope someone knows with accuracy.
